THE SHOE
La Scarzuola is the surreal construction designed by Tomaso Buzzi.
Meeting of participants in Montegabbione. Arrival meeting with the owner and start of the guided tour of the Scarzuola, an Italian village that can amaze even the most experienced and rational travellers. Evocative sculptures, big eyes, endless staircases, rebuses and labyrinths immediately bring to mind the works of the illustrious Dutch engraver and graphic artist Maurits Cornelis Escher. A virtual reality can offer a unique spectacle. It is mainly known because according to some studies it seems that St Francis of Assisi stayed there for a period of his humble life. In fact, the ancient convent that can be visited was built precisely where he decided to begin his spiritual journey, living in a hut and depriving himself of all possessions. He built it using some branches of the marsh plant "scarza", from which the name of the village derives. At the end of the visit, we continue on to San Venanzo through the evocative landscapes of Monte Peglia. Lunch with typical menu including drinks in a trattoria and in the afternoon departure for the return to the places of origin.
