Corpus Domini in Orvieto 2026

Orvieto hosts the Historic Procession of Orvieto and the Ladies’ Procession from May 30 to June 7, events connected to the Corpus Domini celebrations that will bring medieval traditions, cultural activities and historical reenactments to the city centre. Among the new features are a celebration in Piazza del Popolo with horses and scenes of medieval life, extending to the portico of Sant’Andrea Church, as well as a travelling photographic exhibition displayed in shop windows throughout the historic centre.

The programme begins on May 30 at the Emilio Greco Museum with the presentation of a new costume for the Ladies’ Procession, together with the launch of the event website and a publication dedicated to the local artisans who contributed to the historical procession.

On June 3, Sant’Andrea Church will host a concert dedicated to the theme of the Eucharist, accompanied by readings and musical performances. Throughout the festival week, shop windows in the historic centre will display historical and contemporary photographs of the procession as part of a city-wide travelling exhibition.

On June 5, the Ladies’ Procession will parade through the city, preceded by medieval-themed activities in Piazza del Popolo, featuring costumed performers, horses and scenes inspired by medieval daily life. The procession will then continue to Piazza Duomo, where symbolic moments linked to the celebration will take place.

On June 7, the Historic Procession, with more than 400 participants, will depart from the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo to accompany the Sacro Corporale procession through the streets of Orvieto, renewing a tradition deeply connected to the city’s identity.
