Educational and training objectives:

-to know the main aromatic and medicinal plants: properties and cultivation

-learn the main uses in cooking and medicine/cosmetics

-learn how to draw up a plant data sheet for a herbarium

Description of the steps:

-collect a leaf/branch of each plant in the tank

-distinguish the harvest between aromatic and medicinal plants

-representing each plant so that the specimen and its technical data sheet can be attached

-combine the various cards to create the class herbarium

-plant 4 aromatic plants in a crate to be brought and cared for daily in class

Timing and tools of the topics

-welcome: introduction to the farm and presentation of the day's activities (15')

-illustration of the various species of aromatic and medicinal plants on the farm (1h)

-harvesting and representation of individual plants (1h)

-use of the leaves to make a herbarium and individual name labels to be placed in the tank next to the relevant plant (2h)

-everyone planting their own herbs (30')

Methods.

Children will be physically led to touch/smell/pick the aromatic plants present and that will be the subject of the subsequent activities. There will also be playful and manipulative activities with what has been collected and selected.
