Stalls of an antique market with ceramics, vintage items and clothes displayed outdoors near the Fonti del Clitunno

Antiques, Second-Hand and Collectibles Market

Every first Sunday of the month in the municipality of Campello sul Clitunno, one of the most beloved events for enthusiasts of antiques, collectibles and curiosities takes place: the Antiques, Second-Hand and Collectibles Market.

Over the years, this fair has grown to include hundreds of exhibitors from all over Italy, and is now considered the leading fair in Umbria and the fourth most important of its kind in Italy.

The market stretches along Viale Settecamini and Viale Fonti del Clitunno, between Campello and Pissignano, at the foot of hills dotted with centuries-old olive groves and fortified villages. From the early hours of the morning, the streets come alive with stalls, visitors and onlookers: a bustle of colours and sounds that transforms the small village into a true amusement park for lovers of vintage and historical collectibles.

Art objects for every taste

Walking among the exhibitors feels like a journey through time: period furniture, silver and old Sheffield plate, porcelain and ceramics of every manufacture, antique clocks, paintings, books, prints, but also small everyday objects, tools of long-forgotten trades, and the occasional curious item capable of evoking memories of the past.

Alongside refined antiques, visitors can also find local artistic crafts, which keep alive the Umbrian tradition of woodworking, wrought iron and ceramics.

The market as an opportunity to explore Campello and its surroundings

The market is also a perfect occasion to discover the historical and natural heritage surrounding Campello sul Clitunno, perhaps stopping for a meal in a local restaurant to enjoy typical Umbrian dishes enhanced by the renowned local extra-virgin olive oil.

Just a few steps from the market lie the famous Fonti del Clitunno, a small natural paradise of extraordinary beauty, with an emerald pond surrounded by willows and poplars. Not far away stands the Clitunno Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a small but perfect example of Lombard architecture. Built between the 6th and 7th centuries, it is notable for its classical temple-like appearance, which once led to its misinterpretation as a Roman sanctuary built on ancient foundations.

Looking up, you can spot the castle of Pissignano, with its towers rising from the medieval walls, and the castle of Campello Alto, founded in the 10th century by Rovero di Champeaux on the hilltop from which it still dominates the valley today.
